American Muslims Called to Challenge Bill Banning Hijab in Drivers License Photos

Politicians in Oklahoma are trying to enact a bill that will ban Muslim women from wearing their Hijab in their driver’s license photos. CAIR is calling for American Muslims in Oklahoma who are concerned about their constitutionally protected freedom of religion to contact their senator.

This law would not just affect Muslim women. Catholic Nuns, Orthodox Jews, Sikh Men, and other religious groups that have headwear would be affected as well. Cancer patients who wear scarves or wigs because they have lost their hair will also be forced to remove them for the pictures. The Muslim community is encouraged to help embrace the diversity this country has to offer and help stop the violation of first amendment rights.
